There are some big changes we've made in the most recent version of the application.
All in the interest of simplifying the user experience and enabling faster payments with Beam. Some of the changes that we've made to the iOS application are now available in the latest Android app. This includes the new Beam button, simplified navigation and improved store screen.
New Beam button for faster payments
During recent user testing we found:
- Customers were Beaming by navigating to the Wallet tab and selecting a card to commence Beaming - wasting time at the checkout.
- Customers couldn’t Beam because the app was not detecting they were in store, resulting in the app not displaying the ‘store screen’, which had the Beam button on it. - causing frustration and time wasting.
- The ‘store screen’ would load and then disappear - stopping customers from Beaming.
Now, when you open the Beam app you’ll notice a floating Beam button at the bottom of the screen (Android). Tap this button to pay with Beam. Regardless of the type of transaction you are making - fueling at ENOC, paying a bill in a restaurant, or paying at a cashier in cafes and supermarkets - start your transaction experience by tapping the new Beam button.
Simplified navigation - the Wallet has moved
Observing Beamers using the application we noticed that once a customer has linked a credit card and has made 1-2 transactions, they rarely need to visit the wallet area of the application. This was previously elevated to top level navigation. Due to the lack of visits and need to update information in the wallet, we've moved these items into a "Wallet" area under the "Me" tab.
We've also changed the labels of the Wallet navigation to be clearer. 'Payment methods' (credit and debit cards linked to Beam to enable payments), 'Transactions history' (record of all transactions you've made with Beam across all your cards) and 'Store cards' (for any store reward cards that are linked to Beam enabling you to collect store rewards automatically at places like Carrefour at the same time you pay).
The ‘Store screen’ has evolved
The previous ‘Store screen’ has been updated to provide more relevant information you need when in a store. Over the coming months we’ll be enhancing this screen to add more information and value to Beamers.
We’d love your feedback
We make changes based on your feedback and data insights. This is a big change to the way you Beam and interact with information in-store. We’d love to hear what you think.
