This month we're celebrating the region's favourite snack: shawarmas!
If you've lived in the UAE for a bit, you've had a shawarma. If you've been here for a while, you've most probably tried up to 50 odd shawarma places to get to the one you like the most.
Shawarma djaj, shawarma lahm, rich tahini, warm fluffy khubuz, that first bite into the hot, succulent shawarma will stick in your mind for a while. The levantine treat that tickles locals' taste buds can fill you up with just as little as AED 20. Definitely one of the cheapest and most flavoursome street food you could find in Dubai.
If you've never tried one in the UAE before, you'll soon discover that you are spoilt for choice. The filling can range from camel meat to salmon, duck and even ostrich (someone says, but we never dared to try it yet!). Many eateries are bringing interesting innovations to the recipe, but we love the traditional Middle Eastern ingredients: spice-marinated meats (lamb, chicken, beef or turkey), tomatoes, parsley, garlic paste, fresh onion and fries. Wrapped or served on a plate. The choice is not only a matter of convenience though.
Beam brings you shawarmas of all shapes and sizes to taste and you get to vote for the one that makes your tummy rumble among the twelve eateries and restaurants listed below.
Whatever are your preferences, we want to know which shawarma place you like the most in the UAE. If your recommended place isn't around these, let us know here and we'll get them on Beam.
NOTE: We're sorry for all the vegans and vegetarians out there. We promise we'll look after you very soon with a curated list of worth-visit venues!
